ISTANBUL (AA) - Cengiz Holding has signed the tender for the 42.6-kilometer Krizevci-Koprivnica-Hungarian Border Train Line in Croatia with a tender price of 405 million euros.

According to the statement made by Cengiz Holding, the signatures were signed for the Krizevci-Koprivnica-Hungarian Border Train Line project, which will connect Central Europe to the Adriatic Sea via Croatia. Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, Minister of Marine, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butkovic, HZ Infrastructure Chairman Ivan Krsic, Turkish Ambassador to Croatia Mustafa Babür Hızlan, Cengiz İnşaat Board Members Asım Cengiz and Muhammet Cengiz were present at the ceremony.

The 42.6-kilometer Krizevci-Koprivnica railway line, whose tender price is 405 million euros, will have 9 stations. In 2024, the railway will become operational and the speed of the trains will reach 160 kilometres per hour.

One of the most important lines in the Trans-European Transport Network is the railway connecting the Iberian Peninsula to Ukraine via Hungary.

With the line to be built in Croatia, Hungary will be connected to the Adriatic Sea by rail. Thus, the railroad starting from the Iberian Peninsula and reaching Ukraine will be connected to the Adriatic Sea via Croatia.

The line will provide a great advantage to the region both in transportation and in the transportation sector. Due to this critical feature, 85 percent of the cost of the line is financed by the European Union.
