Turkish Signature on Bulgaria's Most Difficult Project

The tender for the 20-kilometer Elin Pelin-Vakarel Railway Line connecting Sofia to Plovdiv was won by the DZZD Cen-Duy Railway Elin Pelin Joint Venture established by Cengiz İnşaat and Duygu Engineering.

ISTANBUL (AA) - Cengiz İnşaat-Duygu Engineering Joint Venture won the tender for the 'Elin Pelin-Vakarel Railway Line', which is known as the most difficult project in Bulgaria.

According to the statement made by Cengiz Holding, the tender price of the line, which is recognized as the most difficult construction project to be carried out in Bulgaria in the last 70 years, is 255 million euros. The 20-kilometer line, which constitutes the most strategic part of Bulgaria's railway network, will be built by a partnership of Turkish companies.

The tender for the 20-kilometer Elin Pelin-Vakarel Railway Line of the railway connecting Sofia to Plovdiv was won by the DZZD Cen-Duy Railway Elin Pelin Business Partnership established by Cengiz İnşaat and Duygu Engineering.

The project was awarded by Bulgaria's National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) in 2014. A budget of approximately 1 billion euros has been allocated for the railway line, which is called the Sofia-Bilibe line. The most important stage of the line is the Elin Pelin-Vakarel section.

Nine companies from China, Turkey, Greece, Greece, Italy, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, and Bulgaria competed in the tender process. DZZD Cen-Duy Railway Elin Pelin Joint Venture, founded by Cengiz İnşaat and DuyguMühendislik, won the tender.

7.68 kilometres of the 20-kilometer railway line, which will be completed in 72 months, consists of double tube and 2 tunnels. The structure to be built as New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM) will be the longest railway tunnel in Bulgaria when completed.

In addition to these tunnels, 8 bridges, 11 culverts and 700 meters of sound walls will be constructed where settlements are located. In addition, Elin Pelin new station building and PobitKamik station will be built within the scope of the project, while Vakarel Station and its surroundings will be reorganized. The 20-kilometer line's signalling and video surveillance systems will also be installed by the partnership.
